This energizing Matcha Smoothie Recipe is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It feels incredibly healing and energizing, and I look forward to it daily! This smoothie recipe is naturally sweetened with only fruit- no added sweeteners! It’s also vegan. But truly the best part? It tastes amazing!!!

What is Matcha?

Matcha in essence, is green tea leaves that have been ground into a fine powder. This green tea powder of incredible health-boosting polyphenols called catechins, which protect from cancer, prevent heart disease, lowers cholesterol, and slow down the aging process. The health benefits of matcha are too numerous to list!

Health benefits aside, this smoothie is a tasty morning or afternoon pick-me-up without leaving you feeling overly jittery like coffee.  It does contain caffeine but in moderate amounts. Matcha clears any brain fog and gives me a few more hours of focus and concentration. I often reach for matcha lattes, but lately, I’ve been enjoying these delicious happy smoothies! So much goodness here friends!

Matcha Smoothie Ingredeints

  • Matcha Powder– I always seek out a high-quality, organic green tea powder that is high in polyphenols.  Jade Leaf Organic Matcha and this Liquid Jade are hands down two of the best out there.
  • Pineapple- I love adding pineapple to smoothies because it adds a beautiful sweet-tart flavor. Loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, it’s full of nutrients. It also happens to pair magically well with the matcha. Plus, it’s pretty impossible to feel blue around a pineapple. Everything about them is happy, warm, and sunny. They are so fragrant. Cut one open and let its scent uplift you.
  • Banana– Adds a thick creamy base to the smoothie without dairy, plus a little sweetness and potassium. Frozen bananas are really nice here, but if you sing fresh, just add a few ice cubes.
  • Greens– Baby spinach, kale, or your favorite mix gives the smoothie a boost of nutrients, fiber and vibrant color.
  • Plant-based milk- Use soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, oat milk, or whatever you prefer!
  • A squeeze of Lemon– activates the catechins in the Matcha powder!

How to make Macha Smoothie

  1. Cut the pineapple and banana into chunks, and gather the smoothie ingredients.
  2. Place all the smoothie ingredients in the blender, starting conservatively with the matcha powder. Matcha is bitter, and if you are not used to it, can be an acquired taste. Start light and add more to taste.
  3. Blend until very smooth.
  4. Taste and add more matcha powder if you like. If the flavor tastes bitter, you can add a little honey or maple syrup to balance this out.
  5. To make this extra cold and thick, blend in a few ice cubes!
  6. Pour into glasses and enjoy!

The flavor of this Matcha Smoothie will delight you!

The natural sweetness of the pineapple and the banana requires no other sweetener….and will balance out kale or baby spinach.  So make sure to put something green and healthy in your smoothie, you won’t even be able to taste it.

  1. A divine smoothie first matcha. Next time I’ll put more matcha than 3 quarters t spoon I used oat milk brilliant thankyou

  2. One of the tastiest smoothies I’ve ever had! I’m not a huge pineapple fan but we had some fresh pineapple leftover so I wanted to toss it in a smoothie instead of it going to waste. And wow! The perfect blend of flavors in this smoothie and cuts some of the pineapple’s acidity that I don’t love. Will definitely be making this more often!

  3. We love this smoothie. I swear it gives me extra energy during the day. Today I just made it and added fresh ginger and turmeric root. Will be doing it like this from now on. I am addicted to it!

  4. I am new to smoothies, and would like to use them to lose weight. Is it ok to add oat to my smoothie (Calories wise and filling effect)? I want to consume smoothie as my only breakfast meal). TIA

  5. I am sorry about your back. Better down in crappy weather then good weather. Very sweet of Brian to come home with a pineapple. And LOOK what you did with it. Cool.

  6. This looks fabulous. I got hooked on a pineapple and cilantro smoothie earlier this month, and now I can’t stop putting pineapple in my blender! It’s like a little tropical escape!
