Description
This Oaxacan Hot Toddy is made with mezcal, honey, simple syrup, and fresh limes. A cozy fireside drink perfect for fall.

(for 1 drink)
- 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
- 3/4 ounce honey
- 1 1/2 ounces water
- 1 1/2 ounces mezcal
- whole dried Thai chilies, for garnish
- pinch of cayenne (optional)
Instructions
- Pre-heat a mug, or other insulated cup.
- Juice the lime(s).
- Combine honey, lime juice, water – and cayenne, if using (see “Notes,” below) – in a small saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then turn OFF the heat and add the mezcal.
- Pour into your pre-heated cup, and top with a dried chili.
Notes
- Be sure to go easy on the cayenne – in a hot drink it can easily become too much!
