Description

The bramble cocktail is a refreshing summer drink that combines fresh muddled blackberries, gin, lemon juice and sparkling water.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1 1/2 ounces of fresh lemon juice
  • 2ounces Dry Gin (or sub vodka)
  • 1ounce Blackberry Liquor (optional)
  • 1ounce simple syrup, honey simple syrup, maple or agave
  • Sparkling water ( or try Ginger Ale!)
  • Garnish with fresh blackberries, lemon twist and mint

Instructions

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Muddle ripe juicy blackberries with fresh lemon juice in a shaker. Fill with ice.
  3. Add gin, optional Blackberry liqueur, and sweetener of choice. Shake well.
  4. Strain.  I had to use a fine-mesh strainer, because the built-in strainer in the shaker did not strain the seeds.
  5. Pour over ice and top with sparkling water with a twist of lemon and top with a blackberry.

Notes

If not adding the Blackberry Liqueur, you may need to add more sweetener, so sweeten to taste.

You could also make a big batch of this, multiplying the recipe to your desired amount. Place everything (except the soda) in a large mason jar and store in the fridge for up to 2 days. When ready to serve, strain, add the sparkling water to taste, and garnish with a few blackberries, lemon slices, and mint.

Ginger ale is also nice here instead of sparkling water.
