Description

Here are 30+ handmade gifts that you can make in your kitchen! A joy to make and receive! Plus an easy recipe for homemade vanilla. Allow 6-8 weeks for the best flavor!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 whole Madagascar vanilla beans
  • 2 cups dark rum (or vodka)

Instructions

  1. Split the vanilla beans in half lengthwise with a sharp knife, leaving the ends intact.
  2. Place the split vanilla beans in an 8-ounce jar and cover with the rum. Seal and shake.
  3. Store in a cool, dark place; a basement, or a lower kitchen cupboard works well. Let sit for 6-8 weeks.  The longer the mixture sits, the stronger the flavor will be. Give a good shake every week.

Notes

  1. If gifting, divide vanilla among smaller bottles with 1-2 vanilla beans. Seal, label and wrap with twine!
