Wild Rose Petal Sangria

Description

Rose Petal Sangria- made with wild rose petals and rosé wine – a refreshing summer drink that is lightly floral and delicious! Perfect for weddings, special brunches, or showers!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 bottle Rosé Wine
  • 1/41/3 cup Rose petal simple syrup ( see below)
  • 1/41/3 cup Elder Flower Liqueur ( like St. Germaine)
  • 12 tablespoons fresh wild rose petals (washed) for garnish
  • handfull fresh mint leaves for garnish ( optional)

Rose Petal Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup washed fresh wild rose petals ( or 1/3 cup dried petals, food grade – available in bulk section of gourmet markets)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

** All fresh rose petals are edible, just make very sure they are untreated with pesticides!

Instructions

  1. Make rose petal simple syrup. Bring all ingredients to a simmer, stir until sugar is dissolved. Turn heat off. Let roses petals steep for 12 – 24 hours in a cool place. The longer, the more rose flavor! Strain. (Refrigerate any leftovers)
  2. Place Rosé Wine, ⅓ cup Rose petal simple syrup, ⅓ cup Elder Flower Liqueur and 1-2 tablespoons fresh wild rose petals (washed) and optional mint in a large pitcher and refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Serve over ice.
  3. Enjoy!

Notes

Any fragrant rose petals will work here ( even from your garden)  – just as long as they not treated with any chemicals or pesticides.
