Description

Green Papaya Salad {Bangkok Style!} – a light, healthy and refreshing salad bursting with authentic Thai Flavors! Serve with cabbage leaves and sticky rice.


Ingredients

  1. 1/2 green papaya, fine matchstick or grated ( 67 cups)
  2. 2 garlic cloves
  3. 1 red Thai chili ( 2 for spicy)
  4. 1 cup Chinese Long Beans ( or green beans) cut into 1-inch pieces
  5. 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  6. 3 tablespoons brown sugar (or palm sugar)
  7. 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  8. 3 tablespoons lime juice (or use tamarind water)
  9. 3 tablespoons water
  10. 1/4 cup roasted peanuts

Instructions

  1. Slice the green papaya in half scoop out seeds with a spoon and peel. Grate into small matchsticks. Set aside.
  2. Mash two garlic cloves with 1-2 red Thai chilies and place in a large bowl.
  3. Muddle the long beans for one minute. Add to the bowl
  4. Add the tomatoes and shredded papaya to the bowl.
  5. In a small bowl mix sugar, fish sauce, lime juice and water.
  6. Pour dressing over the salad and muddle and stir for about one minute. You can also use your hands and massage ( use kitchen gloves).
  7. Add the peanuts and toss.
  8. Serve with sticky rice and cabbage leaves to make little wrap!

Notes

Palm sugar is less sweet than brown sugar so add a little extra if needed.
